[00:18] How long gone? Chris Black coming to you from beautiful London. It's coming home, Jason. How are you? How am I? I'm riding high. It was a little tough to see Norway go down yesterday. Where'd [00:30] watch the match? I went to a... [00:33] pub well some people are calling it a fake pub because it's nice and new but it's called the fat badger in uh notting hill and it was you know what what fascinated me because this is obviously my first experience in getting caught up in the vortex of football in real time you know when like when sports are on at places in america in my experience everybody's kind of hanging out and the sports are on you know what i mean like some people are concentrating more than others but [01:03] game's on but the bros are chatting we're getting another round of wings yeah and i have a feeling the opposite was happening down at the badger the badger was rammed uh with you know like hot west in girls and the guys that can afford them and uh it was yeah it was it was full concentration this badger was rammed every single person in the room was facing the screen like there was you know [01:33] stayed till like 12 30 i couldn't do the 2 a.m i couldn't i didn't have it in me oh yeah i forgot yeah i mean i was watching the match around lunchtime i feel yeah it was it was like a 10 10 p.m start so izzy and i had dinner in the neighborhood and then we walked over um and you know british people she just knows more about football than i would ever imagine that she would you know it's it's it really is a cultural difference it's just i'm looking at photos of the fat badger i don't know if i would call this a pub this looks like a very nice rustic restaurant hey i'm just telling
[02:03] with you, but I'm not an expert. It was referred to as a pub to me. It's connected to that restaurant, Canteen. I think I've been to it's quite good. I think you might have been there too. But anyway. I mean, is there... [02:16] Do we need to invent a new word for a modern, nice venture capital-backed pub? Back in the day, it was gastropub. Oh, God. You know? Yeah. Fab Badger is a great gastropub addition into the marketplace because you can also have, you know, I'm sure at your table, you can get a little cup full of pretzel sticks or sun chips or cheesy doodle sticks. [02:46] Duck Tureen? Don't mind if I do. We also are offering a Wiser Melon smoothie for 14 quid here. Yeah, it's definitely a little bit of that. But I also think that the differentiation that I've been hearing is it's not a real boozer. [03:00] Which, you know, obviously I know the difference between, even though people seem to be boozing as well as other things, I know the difference between, you know, bar and real boozer, I think. Okay, so for our listeners at home, a boozer is like, we're doing serious drinking here versus, you know, we're milling about having a glass of orange, some type of spritz, and that's about it, versus we're going here. [03:26] 50% chance we're getting arrested kind of vibe. I'm going to call the guy. That kind of stuff. It seemed to be people in the packet last night. When several guys are going to the bathroom together, it only means one thing, Jason, and that's cocaine or gay sex. So it could have been both. Yeah, so they said this white powder is going back to where it belongs. It is coming home, right up the old trustee. It's coming home. I think it's making a move on the right.
[03:50] A quick move on the right nostril, and in she goes. But the best part was I didn't know. Obviously, I don't follow the sport. So when the first goal was scored by England, everyone started singing Hey Jude. I was like, what the fuck? Is this just like a British song that everybody likes? Like, what's going on? And then I did find out the player's name. Guy who's never heard Hey Jude. Yeah. So British song? Everyone seems to know it. I should learn this. But then I found out the guy who scored, I think scored a couple goals, his first name is Jude. So that made a little more sense to me once I did the math on that. [04:20] We're talking about Jude Bellingham, who is the hot 22-year-old soccer player. Carolyn was like, oh, wow, Bellingham. I was like, how do you know who Bellingham is? She's like, he's on the feed. I talked to an unnamed gay man earlier today who was like, I was looking at my search history this morning, and I realized I had searched Jude Bellingham nude last night during the game. But I do know him. That name does sound familiar. I mean, yeah, I was like, [04:49] Yeah, actually, Carolyn, he was in a Skims ad. And before I could even finish saying the K in the word Skims, she hit me with a... Oh, so he's... Okay, see, these guys... Because the famous guy on England, from what I could tell, was a guy named Harry... Harry Kane. Harry Kane. Who looks extremely British, but also looks 10 years older than he is from the stress of carrying the team on his back. Yeah, he looks older than Calvin Harris. Yes, he does. But he looks like Calvin Harris's Republican older brother. [05:19] look like a Tory yeah he does have he does have that look about him but yeah he famously announced that he had uh did a round of golf with Trump last year and you know so it really is like do you want this you know blonde haired blue eyed British guy who hangs out with Trump or who also looks 43 or do you want the 23 year old mixed race guy with uh who's hairless and hung well you know it's it's not tough or your other option is the guy from Norway who looks like a villain you know who's
[05:49] putting it nicely he's one of the most interesting looking people on planet earth i i really like it harry kane was born in 1993 that's crazy had fully formed brains at that age and he looks our age dude he looks he he looks like he's been in like the accounting department and it's it's stressed him out that that's the vibe this is this is british he's got british disease some of our [06:19] guy who works at the docks it just turns one day turns on you it turns i bet you have to look at a photo of him when he was 16 he looked four well it's like the it's like prince harry and prince william you know they've aged like a fine cheese in the sun yeah it's really it's not it's not great like a humboldt fog yes exactly august noontime he i love smoking on that humboldt fog um but yeah anyway it was it was a fun it was fun to be a part of it i uh i like i said i made it [06:49] went to see George at Fabric. Oh, yeah. He invited me to that. I was so bummed. I was like, what time frame is Chris going to attend this club? Is it going to be 945 to 1015? And he was like, no, no, no, no. [07:01] And he was like, yeah, that's confirmed. And just to let you know, the club doesn't open at 945. He will be there. Just to kind of check out. I'm going to be out. Know where the exits are and stuff like that. Hanging around. Yeah, I have to walk the premises to make sure I know how to get out. First one in, first one out. I met Shod at Space Talk, a new listening room around the corner, I guess, which was quite cool, actually. And then... The fat badger of listening rooms I'm reading. I got to say, man. I got to say, fabric.
[07:31] I recognize the history. The smell in that room is something I have... Obviously, we got there at like 11, so it wasn't that early. It wasn't that early. The smell inside of fabric is something that has never touched my experience nostrils ever before. I don't even know what the mixture is that makes it so pungent. Notes of frankincense? What are we thinking? Yeah. That's a new designer drug I've never heard of that makes people... Orange blossom? [08:01] it's like obviously it's a mix of whatever the british version of fabuloso is you know what i mean and like maybe maybe incense and maybe spilled beer and also buzz balls and i just don't know what the possible combination could be to get this it's so twisted it is so twisted on the nose okay so um so the fabulosa [08:24] I just looked it up. Fabuloso. I was like, what's the British version of Fabuloso Cleaner? And it said... [08:30] It's called Fabulosa. There you go. Boom. We just changed one letter. It's just a female conjugation. Yeah, so I know all about the smell of nightclubs. You do. Having spent a lot of time in them. That's why I'm bringing this up. And it's not unlike the smell of a bar or a pub. [08:47] When you go into, I've always, I don't know how much of it is like psychosomatic, but when you go into a club before it is open and full of people, it has a much different smell than when, you know, the lights are on and the gear is turned on and sound is happening. It just distracts you from it.
[09:17] decades of beer in in the wood flooring in the sub flooring just stale damp air cigarettes it's just vermin i know but there was something i've i i have not smelled this as much as you god bless you've spent a lot of time in the club too you've you've you've been at the club picking up that bar check the next day little 375 dollar bar they hit me with that automatic 20 when you leave the visa [09:47] on the promoter side as well as the customer forward-facing side. But I mean, I guess it takes a special club to have such a special smell. I think it's the history. I think it's the history. I think it's been there for so long that it predates. There's smells that predate our current era that I wouldn't have access to. You know what I mean? The ass of Carl Craig is baked into the walls there. Yeah, literally. Literally. [10:11] I left at one. I had a pretty good showing. It was, of course, before George touched the decks, but still, I was able to make it home. I mean, it's hard to do that in L.A. when the club is done earlier. It's like, ugh. It was a late. I've been out late. I've been out late. Okay. So you are more hungover than me. Is that what's happening? Well, today I have also... [10:33] I went to Hackney this morning and then had lunch at the heart with Conn. I've been all over town today on a bike because the weather's so nice. So I'm feeling a little fried. I'm feeling a little fried. Did you have, I know they don't have ice cubes there, but did you find a cold brew or something you could bring in? You know what I did, Jason? Yesterday I went to a place called Watch House that's like a pretty popular coffee house. It's pretty good. And I ordered a cold brew and these motherfuckers handed me a can and a cup of ice.
[11:00] Because they make their own cold brew in a can. Oh, they hit you with the DTC. I get it. I totally get it. Put this shit on tap. Like, come on. Put this shit in the cup for me. Don't make me put it. It just feels like I'm going to a fucking off license. Like, come on. Put it in the cup like a restaurant. Like, it just made me mad. And it was too fruity. It was too fruity as well. The brew was too fruity. Yeah, or just bring the can. Yeah, exactly. Well, they asked me if I wanted ice, and I was like, yeah, no shit. Look at me. [11:30] why they were asking that. And I was not, I was not pleased. I was not pleased. They're so, they hate to give up that ice over there, don't they? Those little bastards. Even when it's, I mean, it's so nice outside. It's hot, of course. Like Wimbledon in a suit was not my favorite thing I've ever done. But it's, compared to Miami or New York or, you know, anywhere else with humidity, it's pretty good. You know, it's pretty primetime summer shit. So you went to Wimbledon? You've had such a week, Chris. I've had a week, yeah. I went to see Coco, fucking lose, just duff it into the net and crunch time. I don't know if she's ready [12:00] leagues tj osaka's up and she and coco down well i mean osaka's not up she's still lost and she looks stupid but i mean i think coco coco's at least cool i just wanted to bring it up just to make sure we at least you still have the same thought at least coco can do a press conference where she like smiles you know and makes a joke uh but yeah it was it was crazy she kind of just give us a smile pretty pretty she really she really choked man she really choked but it was
[12:30] So I was happy to experience it. Having Wimbledon during World Cup, I feel like that's going to be shit for ratings. I think. Are they being shot upon? I wonder. I feel like people who like all sports find a way to see it all. Like if you're a real, you know what I mean? If you really love this shit. You sound like my Fox Sports package right now. Yeah. No, this is NFL Red Zone. This is League Pass shit. Like you're going to find a way using your BBC iPlayer. Real sports fans find a way to watch it all. [13:00] Only on FS1. To view all this shit, yeah. I mean, I was watching, sorry to interrupt, like last week, a random-ass game, you know, like not even a huge one, kind of an off-time. [13:11] And then, you know, during halftime, I was like, oh, there's like a whatever Lakers game on or something like that. And it looked it looked like a high school match in terms of production quality, crowd attendance, energy. Really? I don't know if it was like because everyone wanted to watch soccer instead of basketball, but it really does affect everything. Like I plan trips, you know, if I have to drive a far distance or go somewhere on the west side or something, try to plan it around a World Cup match. [13:39] If you could plan an LAX arrival while fucking Argentina's playing or Mexico's playing. I'm going to work on that. Yeah. I drove to that spot, LA Grocery, which is in Hollywood from my house. And Saturday morning, normally traffic's fucked up. I was going 87 down the 101, Hollywood and Vine. No one around. What game was on? Argentina was on? That was actually no game. Okay. No game, which is not great for my point and story.
[14:09] I didn't mean to pry. You pried it up, and do you like what's inside? Do you like the nut? No. Walking from the restaurant to the bar last night to watch the game, the streets are like, it's tumbleweeds in London. It was crazy because it had been on for 15 minutes. Oh, yeah. You know what I mean? It just started. In England, it's tumbles. If you ever wanted to rob the Louvre again. Yeah, that's the time. It's the British Louvre. We can go to the V&A East. Wait till the hydration break and rob the Louvre again. Not the hydration break. [14:39] store but i did see something at the in the hospitality suites at wimbledon they had a avion [14:47] water cooler. Hell no. That's BS. That's absolute BS. The gap between believing mental health support and [15:19] to me. No, and I'd never seen that before and [18:03] And now I'm like, does this exist? Is this something you can buy? Is this Wimbledon only? Is this whatever? Is this an exclusive? I haven't looked it up yet, but I wanted to put it out there to you because I feel like somebody will let us know. There's a Virgil Abloh Avion. Yeah, they did a bottle with him. But I'm talking about this is like a... This is a 2019 mini dispenser thing. I'm sending it to you right now. [18:33] and the water comes in a plastic bag upside down. Oh. And then you kind of squeeze it to have the water come out. The design is reminiscent of the volcano marijuana vaporizer. I was, dude, it was on the tip of my tongue. R.I.P. Virgil, his mind. R.I.P. Virgil, R.I.P. to the volcano smoking era of my life. Damn, can you get one of these on Grail and get the Virgil volcano? Dude, this is crazy looking, actually, though. This is like a crazy looking thing to have in your house.
[19:03] Jake Davis definitely has three of them on ice. I want this shit delivered to my house like Mountain Valley style, but they can actually bring it up the stairs because it's not glass. It was nice to see that. I've never seen that before. I know it exists out there. It has to exist, and I think getting it stateside might be a bit difficult. That might be a bit tough then. I'm sorry. We've had some deaths in the family the last couple days. My For You page on Twitter is the most gay jokes I've ever seen about Lindsey Graham's death. [19:33] To the point where it's like, you guys got to relax. It's not even funny anymore. It's diminishing returns after the hundredth one I've read. Speaking of who's going to pack this badger. [19:43] One of our eldest badgers, Lindsey Graham, RIP. I mean, it seems like it seems. How did he die? I didn't even look. I didn't even notice. Believe it or not, they're keeping it a little mysterious. But apparently he was touring a weapons drone facility in Ukraine the day before meeting with Zelinsk. [20:13] his confession to fucking merch that he just bought the next day that entire facility was bombed by russia [20:21] And now he has been announced that he has suddenly passed away. And no, I don't think people are saying that they like... [20:30] bombed it while he was in there but or if he like got shook and had a heart attack or whatever it is but in classic tj fashion you're you're smelling funny business i mean you know there's all of these famous political deaths you know hey you know you know whether you're a mitch mcconnell or a lindsey graham or you you're somebody who's been installed to kill uh charlie kirk or you know
[21:00] month ago or whatever, like you don't hear about, you don't hear any information about these people and Luigi, you know, they just kind of brush it all under the, under the rug, but there have been a lot of, of jokes making light of him. And, you know, it shows that humanity really does want to make these kind of gallows, humor jokes, and they just are waiting for the right, correct person to pass away so they can say, you know, everybody, you know, [21:27] test your coke you guys or you know my favorite was don't do Cialis with poppers guys be careful which is pretty good wait are you serious hold on I think that I think that it's it is funny though that some people you can just I mean obviously Lindsey Graham is very funny to make fun of and easy to make fun of and he's a bad guy but it's so funny that that the no one's defending him Charlie Kirk jokes people get mad that's true Lindsey Graham jokes you don't see a little riskier [21:57] I mean, obviously some people are going to get mad, but they're far between and living in the rolling hills of Appalachia. But it's a funny, it's been a very intense, the outpouring has been very interesting, I would say. Yeah. Shout out to, he's our closeted king. Our closeted king. I mean, I'm glad nobody died at these Jay-Z shows because I feel like the age, they're getting up there. You know what I mean? They're getting up there. The unction at Yankee Stadium. But... [22:26] I sent you the tweet yesterday. It seems like a friend of the show, Azalea Banks, is thirsting for Hove a little bit, saying that he looked hot with his fitted and his Caesar, but that his T-shirt was a little too small. And I saw the T-shirt, and it looked, to me, to fit properly. I agree with you. It wasn't baggy. No. But it was not too tight. No. I wanted to make sure we were on the same page before we went forward to the public. No, we're on the same page.
[22:56] think people have their version of these celebrities or rappers or whatever in their minds. [23:02] And they want to keep that forever. You know, I want to have my guy wearing a triple XL crispy white tee and the sideways fitted. Like that's how I picture him when I'm masturbating. So that's what I want. I don't want him to see him size down and be giving a different look. Some people are like, I want to remember when Jay-Z and LeBron would wear like three-piece suits with pocket watches and pinstriped. Of course, of course. Top hats and things like that. [23:32] That's what I want Jay-Z to be wearing on night three or whatever. Yeah, I think this is like, I think he is funnily enough looking pretty age appropriate in these. And I mean, besides wearing the vest that is, I think. I think I'm going to say it's Blue's influence. Blue's old enough. And she's like, all right, y'all, time to clean all this up. Yeah, like y'all need to stop playing. Y'all old as hell. And it's cool. I mean, I guess that is good advertising for having children. [24:02] are able to queer eye you once you turn washed. [24:05] man i got queer about 14 year old she said you look dusty imagine just waking up in your fucking whatever they live you know they're the la jolla mansion for their summer house and blue's like all right get up guys and just goes in the closet starts throwing away all the fucking bullshit we got a hair appointment jay 11 15 don't be late we're finally going to clean that up you know and she just goes in boom boom boom all right here's the rappers you got to know about
[24:35] can't be talking about Sean John anymore. There's no more Baby Fat. There's no more any of that. There's no more Darion Jeans. Oh, Jason, don't bring that out now. God, you're going to give me Misty in here. I'm going to start. I'm going to choke up, bro. Damn. Got me on hard looking at you in them Darion Jeans. But it's crazy that David Cho is going to all three nights of this because the set is different. But do you like anything enough to go to three nights when it's that sort of commute? [25:05] Grateful Dead at the Sphere. You gotta go every night. You gotta tailgate. You gotta do the whole There's nothing I like enough to go three nights of commuting from Manhattan to Yankee Stadium. What about the Olivia Rodrigo Music Festival in Irvine, California, All Women? [25:19] You could do three of those, couldn't you? As much as I support that festival and the movement that Olivia's created, three nights of that is too much for even an ally like me, Jason. On day two, you'd start asking about where's the talent at? Is there a different VIP? Does anybody here know how to play guitar or is it just they hold it? [25:42] I'm joking. Come on. I'm joking. Oh, yeah. I'm joking. I'll see you guys next week. Chris, I disagree. [25:49] musical instruments i think they're better i mean i i like them because they don't try to solo as much because they have less of an ego and that's why women musicians are better than men yeah you know all women musicians are better than the new future record dudes dude yoko ono is better than the new future record that's that honestly that song i sent you that shit is crazy it's crazy i mean no no no it's crazy it's like it's shock i was listening to it are you talking about the one
[26:19] Thank you. [26:19] yeah yeah yeah yeah his raptor voice what what is that like what is that is that just like i'm trying some shit uh cardi and some other rappers started doing it you know five years ago yeah it was very [26:49] Like, Doug was doing it for, you know, he was good at it for a summer, and then it kind of got a little old really quick. And then people kind of stopped doing it, the weird little, I'm a little baby kind of... [26:59] What was that? Pissy Pamper? That Cardi song? Yes, yes, yes. Which is great. Love it. Fabulous. How could we forget? We can't have a 45-year-old multi-millionaire doing the Goo Goo Gaga voice. It's just, unless he's trying to have sex with women that are younger than he should be having sex with, which I would never accuse Future of. Hey, no, Future ain't doing that. But I do think [27:29] going crazy. He was like, this shit is ass, and they were trying to defend it. I mean, I'm just like... [27:36] I think that we want so much from him because he was so cool. And that era is very, very... It's been a very, very long time. And we're not ready to move on. Who are we just talking about last week about musicians that don't know when to hang it up and they can't? Like he's... And about how people end up getting...
[27:55] Their careers are done so much earlier in their life. Oh, we were talking about Louis C.K., I think. Which is fine. Future, go play the hits, bro. Go play March Madness for the rest of your life. You don't ever have to do this shit again. You're a legend. You're the GOAT. He looks cool now. I like the way he looks. He looks better. Everything about this- He probably is cooler. Everything about this album- [28:17] except the music feels better the name the title is hilarious i think another another thing is when when you are a rapper and you have this persona whether it is whether whether you're a eclipse member talking about how you never fly private when obviously you i want to know i need to clear this up i need to clear this up but quickly not not because i i do love push a t but i want to clear it up i think what people i think people on the internet are confusing economy flying with [28:47] private flying like commercial flying is not the same as economy flying pusha t is not sitting in 43f pusha t is in first class and that is not the same as as economy unless it's a last minute emergency he had a cancellation and he had to hop on i understand that rappers are braggadocious and they be lying sometimes um but i think like as a fan of pusha t taking a picture of him without him [29:17] doesn't prove anything that doesn't mean anything he's standing he's standing at whatever at whatever airport that's not you need if you're gonna really try to hang this guy out to dry you gotta find a picture of him next to the bathroom on united this ain't gonna see him with a little sun chips bag in his hand not the small one the mini one this ain't yeah this ain't enough for me like i think that like you gotta be in his section where they pour him the diet coke and he says can i have the can
[29:47] Oh, you thought you were getting fever tree tonic water for free? You're out of your goddamn mind. Ain't no fever tree back here, honey. We got a fresca. Okay, so do you think... I mean, just one month ago, we got the same photo of Rick Ross flying commercial. This month... [30:05] We got a member of Clips next month, whoever it's going to be. I don't know. Is it a little bit of they deserve it? If you spend much of your life and occupation talking about how you only fly private, you're sort of asking for it when you go... [30:22] You're a famous person. You're going to get flicked up. I think it's fair game if you want to play that character. I'm not saying it's not a fair game. I just don't think these guys are saying I only fly private. I think they're saying stuff that's dumber. [30:37] And people are interpreting it as I only fly private. Right, right, right. That's what I think is happening. I guess that this goes back to the classic issue of media literacy and the fact that people are not understanding what is being said. Like, of course, it's funny. Like, Rick Ross also looked like he was a thought that had just shared a room with four other girls in Fort Lauderdale for the weekend with, like, broke boy luggage and a hoodie up. You know what I mean? Pusher T is standing there looking pretty good. He looked like a cast member of the film Zola. [31:07] Yeah, like Pusha T looks like normal to me. Like he looks like a guy, he's wearing a nice jacket, I can't see his luggage, whatever. I just don't think this is... He's holding, I'm sure he's holding a leather bag that costs more than a first class flight. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. I'm just saying that I think that like, as an OVO Chris, I understand wanting to throw shots at anyone who comes for a king. But I think we're getting, I think this is a little, this is like the dumb, one of the dumber things I've seen.
[31:37] with the bison and found out this is the this is one of the dumber things in the last in the last week with the bison and you found out yeah uh you're right it's it's look if you're if you're if you're push a t and you're at the fucking atlanta airport connecting you're opening yourself up to criticism and and also take a page out of [31:55] regular real celebrities who really shouldn't be flying commercial, you know, Kendall and, and Elordi are, are bopping down to Queensland or whatever. [32:06] The hoodie is up. The sunglasses are on. The hat is on. The brim is low. We can see a half inch of one of your cheeks. If we take a photo of you, TMZ ain't going to buy it. [32:36] become like i don't think people understand the astronomical cost of it and how stupid it is for most things and how and and and how unluxurious it is 90 of the time i mean the only the best part is that you get to drive out into onto a car and walk on the plane and leave whenever you want like of course that's nice but is that worth 100 000 you don't have to smell the same air as for as as poor people but you're in a smaller plane there's more turbulence the plane no let me no [33:06] Let me clear this up. It is absolutely better. It is 100% better. And the downsides are nil except for the astronomical prices. It's not a smart thing. No matter how rich you are, it's not a smart thing to do. I don't care about the environment. I don't give a shit about that. It's just a financial, it's a mistake. It's not smart to do unless you have it figured out or it's a danger. It's scary. Yeah, it should be for emergency use only. You really can't be in public.
[33:36] was announcing like a new first class yeah they're fucking us again they're fucking us sideways this time i don't remember exactly what it was but it seems like it's like delta one regular delta delta 0.5 you can't pick your seat and you don't go to the lounge oh but you get the lay flat and everything else yeah the delta one lounge i was just in it on the way over here it was busier than the airport it sucks like i i don't i mean it's like i bring my own food and the staff gets [34:06] It's like I just don't – I guess what I'm saying is I just don't understand. I think people – I wonder how many people that's the experience they want versus the actual like I get to sleep on the plane for 10 hours. Right, yeah. I think we're going to find out. I think more people want that lounge experience than you think. I know. That's the sad part. I know. I think – but it's one of those things where – [34:26] when you first experience it, you're like, hell yeah, I'm going to go three hours early and have my tasting menu brought to you by fucking 11 Madison Park or whatever. I'm going to get a foot rub. And while I have my lychee martini, you do it three times and you're like, no, I'm going to show up to the airport 37 minutes before boarding time and go to where I want to go. And that's it. I can, I can pour myself a glass of store-bought orange juice at home just as easily.
[34:56] key to Delta One at JFK and LAX at least is the security. If you can go through the security, not go to the lounge and not pick your seat, I'm cool with that if it's saving thousands of dollars. Same. Same. Like, who cares? That's not... I don't know. It seems like they're almost trying to... [35:13] have certain routes be only first class and only economy and only delta ones or something like that i wonder if it's a situation that they're trying to because there's new planes where the first half is all first class and the second half is is premium economy have you seen that no but that makes sense i don't depending on the route like you said like it's not going to work from fucking you know charlottesville to birmingham but there are routes that that would work on i i just don't [35:43] us every time is admirable. [35:45] at this point. I'm impressed by it. They're doing backflips to find new ways to charge us more for less. I feel like the economics of it really rival... [35:56] you know, economics of the world in general of like, you know, the billionaire tax, you know, and the Delta one tax, you know, are the are the people who are buying the $10,000 first class flights. Those are the people who make it possible for, you know, the regular people to take the $300 flight to New York, you know, are those costs being offset. It's pretty interesting stuff.
[36:23] I don't know why you sounded like you were lying. [36:25] I mentioned Yoko Ono earlier, and I was thinking, driving around Los Angeles, there's all these, on the light posts, they'll do... [36:35] promotional materials, flags, posters for art shows coming up, exhibitions. There's one at the Broad Museum downtown for the Yoko Ono exhibit. And I was thinking like, you know, I don't. [36:49] How many people in LA are going to schlep downtown to the Broad Museum to go check out the artwork of Yoko Ono? How many people love Yoko Ono that much to go do that? And then I was thinking more so, I don't know a single person who likes Yoko Ono, period. Oh, no. She's reviled, I would say, by most people. So are people going to this show to hate watch it or just because the connection to potentially seeing Beatles stuff is there? [37:19] with Yoko Ono. And I think that also the Broad is like, I mean, that's just a lot of museums, especially in the summer, the business is just tourists. They're going, they don't, it's not really about what's on view. It's more about like. We just want to see the building take photos in front of the gift shop. I'm in LA, I'm going to hit Mocha, I'm going to hit LACMA, I'm going to hit the Broad downtown, you know, and that's kind of, that's what I would do. Because I don't know. I mean, Yoko Ono has had some high points. I'm not going to totally shit on her, but she's most famous for ruining our greatest band. [37:49] in that way. I mean, I kind of like her just being like a fucking menace in general, but like I don't know any artwork that she's created that people seem to like. I know the music people are like actively violent
[38:03] against i just i just wondered like who are who are these people that are that are like yes let's do a yoko ono show take over a fucking 50 million dollar museum i can tell you exactly it's two it's a family of four from fucking outside of stockholm that's in la for 10 days and they they got universal studios they got disneyland they got the museums they got pinks for a dog they're a little sunburned they just want to go in the ac and let these kids walk around and be left alone okay that's my guess [38:33] Let's go into a room with a small Japanese woman screaming while she stabs a teddy bear. Hey, man. Something for the kids. Hey, man. Kids. And then we're going to check out, see if In-N-Out is up to all the pranks. Yeah. You said In-N-Out. That's just a burger. But I'll guess we'll go. I'm going to see what all the fuss is about. Oh, they have Chick-fil-A here, too. We got to put the roof up on the rental Mustang. The sun's a little too bright while we're in the drive-thru line. This is fucking, this is cooking me. Oh, I was in Atwater. [39:02] couple days ago over you said you went back to the ulta to check in with the ogs are you still good funny funny you say that i i did feel like an og because every time i go there you're like oh this place sucks or whatever but uh i saw two two dudes walking down the street who looked kind of like teen gang members like little mexican cholo kids maybe like 16 you could tell the
[39:32] you know sure sure one of the guys was wearing zero drop wide toe box that's fire that is fire dude i mean look foot health imagine getting stabbed by a guy with toe shoes jason foot health plantar fasciitis this this is plagues us all this is not something no matter no matter what your discipline is as far as the arts go whether dark or light you gotta you gotta foot health is [40:02] old i'm washed i'm onked when i have i have feelings like you you should not you cannot be a street tough in a gang and wearing your little 0.0s jason times have changed bro times i think you're living in the past i think you need to get up because this guy also jason who knows what he's putting up on the deadlift who knows what the back squats looking like not in my america no this is that i like this i like this progress i think everybody should care about their foot health [40:32] look better when you have like the Ben Davis pants cut off. Yeah, it's fly. Into the capris. It's fly. I would much rather see... [40:41] a zero drop shoe the silhouette of it is more pleasing to the eye than let's say a big fat chunky hoka as he's running down the la river i think this is kind of i think this is kind of the watch off your wrist this is kind of fly look honestly the way you're describing it i'm kind of like i'm visualizing it i was he wearing just a tank top and a shirt it was just it was like a white tee some black shorts the shorts were long like below the knee like cholo length and then
[41:11] I looked down at the shoe and I was like, no, hold on. I had to scroll back up and I was like, maybe these guys are just like non-binary baristas. And I just misjudged them at first glance. Oh, I'm sorry, fellas. Excuse me. I'm so sorry. I thought you guys were tough. Never mind. No, but I scrolled back up with my eyes on their bodies and I was like, no. No. [41:33] These are... [41:34] certified [41:35] Street toughs. These are little gangstas. I'm starting to worry, Jason, that at your big age that maybe you aren't able to... [41:45] pick out the gangsta like you used to be that's what i'm that's what i'm i i trust you i know you're you've lived in l.a your whole life you know this stuff better than i do but i'm getting worried that you know i don't know man i think maybe it's tough to decipher as you get as grandpa gets up there i i agree with you and that's something that i hadn't considered until now thank you but um [42:06] I don't mean to. I'm not trying to hit a sore spot. I think once you hit a certain age and you're, you know, quote unquote, set in your ways, maybe you could do the same thing with, you know, judging a rapper being hard or not or whatever. Yeah, for sure. Where you're like, okay, maybe this person who is wearing his little ERL jorts and his zero drop shoes is actually a cold blooded killer who has, you know, a vendetta against the police and he's sniping detectives and he's robbing old ladies. [42:34] Maybe that's happening, and that's just how little gangsters look right now. But when you have the old, washed mind, you say, maybe the world thinks that, but in the courtroom of my mind, in my Judge Ito that lives inside of my skull, you ain't a gangster to me.
[42:52] Oh, baby, it is summer, Jason. We're peaking right now. It's July 4th weekend. It's hot as hell outside, but things do feel easier. The days are a little more relaxed, and I'm sure you can agree, Jason. I find myself reaching for the same comfortable go-anywhere staples again and again, and that's why... [43:38] Some beautiful linen is right there for you. Rotate it into your summer look, and those are starting at just $34. Get some nice, lightweight, soft tees to live in. Okay, next time you see this and this happens to you, I would like for you to check their gangsta, test their gangsta, to see how rotten your old brain is, and let's see what happens. I will test their gangsta. I'm worried that we could lose TJ, or at least a lot of TJ's blood, in this interaction. I'm saying just stay on your side of the street, big dog. You know what I mean? [45:29] Don't test the G You just told me to test the G Now I'm confused I'm sorry, you're right So this young thug guy, he wears dresses And sings in baby voice And like, yeah, isn't it fucking gay? And then a month later they're like [45:45] Oh, yeah, as a Rico charge for murdering 20 people? Okay. Yeah, it is hard to understand, and that's why I'm thinking some of these guys that may do crime for a living also shop at H. Lorenzo in Departamento. I don't think it's out of the question. I don't think it's out of the question. You made my matcha too sweet, bitch. I imagine. I got the VisVim jorts on with the five fingers, and I need extra pump in my matcha. Yeah, it's not out of the question. I saw another thing.
[46:15] my house washing the washing the dishes or whatever look out the window i hear i hear a sound like a little drone came for you buzzing sound like a the fucking the your your drone that was dropping off your amazon package no i i hear the buzzing i look outside there's no swarms of bumblebees no hornet's nests there's a there's a dude walking down the street maybe he's armenian maybe he's not he's got the big electric shaver like the kind that you give your dad for christmas in in in 2003 and [46:44] And he is on a walk. This is fly. I know where this is going. Tank top on, shorts on. [46:50] And he is doing a full face and beard trim with the clippers. Not a single hair is inside the house. Smart. He's getting his steps in. He's getting his vitamin D. Cortisol levels are down. I like it, too. I have to say, I like it, too. And I've, you know, this feels like something. [47:07] that [47:07] would alarm people in your sort of Pleasantville neighborhood because this does feel like unhoused behavior in some ways this feels like something this feels like something you would see in the depths of you know a bad street in Dimes Square after somebody hit the pipe a few too many times it's an activity of somebody who's leaning more down on their luck than high on the hog but I I but I think I think you're right it is it is the whole the reason I get part of the reason I get [47:37] and beard trimmed at a barber shop is because of this reason. I don't want to clean up. And I don't want anybody in my life or a cleaning lady to have to deal with that. Yeah, nothing a woman hates more than seeing a hair
[47:50] in the wild that's not attached to someone's body. Well, yeah. Their shit's everywhere. Fucking clogging drains. Even their own hair. Nah. These hoes be shedding, bro. It's like Mr. Ed. It's like a hair everywhere. How often do you have to empty out the grease trap at your house? Your hair is everywhere. No, I mean, it's not. I'm just saying in general, obviously, especially in my case, the woman that I'm married to and live with has much more hair than me. Period. So it's always, we know who to blame. [48:20] We know who to blame and your house too. [48:22] Carolyn has a beautiful head of hair. And not that you don't. I would never say that. I'm just saying she's numbers wise. Yeah, she's famously known for her beautiful long hair. [48:33] down to the ass crack whereas i have beautiful hair but you know what i'm doing what inch and a half on heart it's it's it's it's yeah look is mine healthier who knows it's an half on chubb i'm not yeah i'm not trying to get into it i'm not i am not just it's a dirty game that neither of us plan to get into but well yeah when it's a solution that [48:56] I think is great because whenever I do the beard trim, it's usually maybe like every whatever, week and a half or so, maybe three times a month. I'll trim it up and clean it up. And I will lay down a towel over this bathroom sink. I lay down a towel, girl. Don't worry about it. All right. All right, Trey Songz, relax. And then Trigger TT, you know, I take my shirt off real slow. How have I never thought about this? Trigger TJ. Damn.
[49:26] I do it to myself. This is why we pod. Okay. I lay a towel down, girls. No big deal. And then I slowly take my shirt off and then I do the beard trim. I lean over, lean forward. Get up off the heels. Well, speaking of foot health, good to do that. [49:41] Some of my hair, because of my clavicular bones, create a little well that will catch it. You know, after it's rained and some of the tree roots will catch a small little ecosystem of water. You know what I'm talking about? Uh-huh, yeah. Obviously, you've seen Tumblr photos of somebody pouring a latte into someone's clavicular bones, right? Yeah, just like that. Anyway, the little hairs will get stuck in my clavicular bones. [50:09] I run a little sweaty, so it's tough to get them out. Otherwise, cleanup is a snap. People have made all these devices for this. It's like when people put the thing underneath the basketball hoop that gets the ball back to them when they're shooting alone. I've considered that. There's several of those on the market for this exact purpose for men. It makes you look like a dog being groomed at Petco while you have this device on. It's a very humiliation. [50:39] a.m. and you're walking the dog i would rather see you doing that on the trimming your beard on the street than see you in your house with some timu plastic container that is meant to catch the strays hey what up sharks i'm looking for 30 okay i wanted to talk our dear friend uh ryland i told you this story earlier about this dog psychic yeah he yeah i saw that he posted he posted that on
[51:09] but I also don't know if I want to follow up. And when you told me the information, I should have followed up. Yeah, we have a consultation on the calendar for this Friday. Do you? Oh, yeah. [51:20] Yeah, so basically, our friend, he rescued a dog, a cute little dog, and it was like owned... [51:30] previously by like a hoarder person wheelchair bound you know not living not living good not getting the correct blend of nutrients in the body and just kind of traumatized in general they rescue the dog everything's great it's super cute but the dog will not pee outside which is which i don't know much about dogs but that's a problem yeah so that means that your your dog is a [51:54] is still peeing and shitting, [51:56] It's just doing it inside of your house on top of your belongings. In your home. Okay, I got it. So you're like, we got this great new dog. It's cute. It's amazing. But every three hours, you know, we're getting the bissel out. No bueno. So they find out about a dog psychic. They do a meeting. I don't know if it's, I guess it's Zoom, I think. [52:16] And anyway, the dog psychic... [52:19] says that, hey guys, this dog keeps singing over and over again. [52:24] hot dogs it's saying hot dogs this just sounds like mate this literally sounds like a lie it's too crazy and and this is coming from a trusted source of a person who's level-headed and pragmatic yeah the most level-headed the most level-headed one of the most level-headed people i know makes us look young wild and free flagrant in comparison and they're like what the fuck are you talking about
[52:48] The dog keeps repeating hot dog over and over again. [52:52] They go, they get some hot dogs. [52:55] Go outside. [52:56] The dog pisses. Problem instantly solved. [53:00] by giving this dog a little hot dog. It's insane. And then I talked around this morning asking if I have his blessing to share this story on the podcast because it was just so insane. That's nice of you. And he was like, oh, actually... [53:13] Can I just refer? I have 100 people in my DMs asking me about this, so when you post your episode tomorrow, I'll just link it out with a timestamp so I don't have to tell everybody the same story. So it's a little service journalism. That's awesome. Everybody wins in this case. Everybody wins in this case. We spread the good word. Ryland looks like a genius, and he gets to share with all his loved ones. I should do this on Cameo. If you have a complex story that you don't want to explain to all of your friends, [53:43] Give me the Cliff's notes, and I will narrate it like your AI LLM model. That's really – That is – $75. Such a great story. Also, the dog – [53:53] Sorry. This part is really weird. So when they first got the dog... [53:59] They went to Ojai as like a little trip, brought the dog. And then the psychic was like, hey, the dog also said... [54:09] When we went to Ojai... [54:12] That was the first time I got to like go run and play outside. I got to go. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. And then I told Carolyn and she was like.
[54:22] How does the dog know what oha is? Well, if you're at, look, [54:26] If you're an LA dog, I'm sure it's on your short list of local weekend getaways. Well, I'd be like, I'm a dog. I still have the Amigo app. [54:38] Oh, my God. That is really... So all that is to say, our dog Bean is like, whatever, five, six years old. It's pretty much baked in. We don't really have any problems with it too much. It's a good dog. There's no... My dog is killing me. [54:56] Cesar Milan but I think it's only 60 bucks 65 bucks for a half an hour or whatever like oh yeah who cares yeah no doubt I think it's like 130 for a full hour and she'll prorate it you know if it's if you get it done in 40 43 minutes she'll charge you by the minute up it's it's I was like I was expecting you know a Hollywood dog psychic to be hundreds of dollars but yeah [55:20] I think she's just busy, booked and busy, and does it for the love of the game. So, you know, I'm sure someone... His name is Rylan, and you can send him a DM, and he'll give you all the... That's honestly... I bet her business is so robust. Well, this is giving me a flashback... [55:37] Pickle Rick when we first started singing the praises of him. And then Rick suddenly, hey, what's up with your podcast, guys? I got all these fucking. Pick me Rick out there in Burbank. Pick me Rick said. I didn't get no discount. Rick still talked the whole way through the massage. It didn't work out for us. I'll tell you that. Look, you got a free oil check.
[55:58] That's not nothing. He gave you a little hydration break. [56:03] Out. [56:04] is when you get a massage with a happy ending. That's old. The new way of saying it, [56:11] I got a little hydration break at the end. A hydration break, it does sound more pleasant. It does sound, it's a little, it's nicer on the ears and the eyes. And the hydration inside your body, it's finally broken. [56:23] It's coming out. That Rowling story is really one for the record books. It's really unbelievable. Yeah. So stay tuned. Watch this space. We're going to send our small dog, Bean, to a psychic and see what's going on inside that twisted mind. Maybe we can make a good dog great. Well, I know Bean's been trying to quit smoking for the last 10 years. So this could be, we could finally get her off the fucking. Yeah. And she needs those camel crushes and they are hard to find. That's the worst part. That's the worst part. [56:53] europe only um okay i got a couple more things but you should go ahead no no go ahead i was gonna ask you about this dish i had at a new restaurant and i just i loved it and i just wanted to know okay you went to a new restaurant and you had a new dish well it's it's a restaurant called vesper this guy has several restaurants in london so i think he's he's a known quantity vesper it was really good his name's jackson but so is that the one over on x mouth market it is
[57:23] At his other restaurant, Dove, he does like his version of the Contramar Tostada. And it's fucking banging. Okay. And this, you know, you order one. This is like a, maybe it's on the menu if you look. It's like almost like a... [57:34] scallion pancake is this a spring onion pancake raw tuna and yes canta yes anchovy yes seven dollars each there's a little typo there the seven on the each needs a space in between i know vesper is listening now at this point i got the i got the anchovy on the side because you know famously don't love anchovies yeah bro that shit fucking smacked i loved it [57:57] And I was just, I was like, wow, this is a great, I don't feel like I see the scallion pancake Chinese pizza type vibe ever reconstituted into any other format beyond sort of the one that we know. So typically an onion pancake, it's like a Korean dish. I think they might do it in Japan a little bit too. I think it is Chinese. I actually think of it as, I've heard it referred to as Chinese pizza, which could be, it probably is a little bit different, you know, technically. Yeah. [58:27] Some of the Chinese ones are like a little more on the pastry-ish side of things. And then like the Korean is a little bit more on like a rice flour batter kind of thing. All that is to say, was this a crispy, flaky kind of tostada thing? Or was it a little more softer and mushy in the middle? It was a little softer. Outside had a nice crisp to it. But the inside wasn't like chewy, let's say. I wouldn't describe it.
[58:57] wow this is like this is really combining two things i like and did you eventually add the anchovy on top no i gave that to dickie as a [59:07] Thank you for the invite. Wait, I'm looking at this. Is it served rectangular? Maybe it is. [59:13] I don't remember the shape. I mean, you just ate it. You don't know shapes? Bro, I don't look at shapes, bro. I'm fucking, I'm about taste, fam. I'm looking at it right now. It looks like it's in little triangles. Yeah, it was a triangle. Yeah, it was a triangle. Okay, so this guy, and it looks like the piece of tuna on top is not thin. It looks like it has a little thickness to it, and then the anchovy is kind of rolled up in a little rosette. Yeah, it was just... That does sound nice. Was there a sauce? I think the anchovy rolled up was sitting on a little bit of sauce, yes. [59:43] I do. Oh yeah, I'm looking at it right now. [59:46] And there's a little green, is it an olive? No, I don't think so. Maybe. [59:51] I don't think so. It looks like a green olive in between the anchovy and the... This is good podcasting, you guys. I'm so sorry. But I'm bringing it up because restaurants love to do this thing. Or is that a pickled jalapeno? It feels more like it's a version of sort of a crispy rice spicy tuna. [1:00:07] That's what I was thinking, and that's why I was like, wow, this is so good. But it does feel new to me texture-wise. You do love spicy tuna crispy rice. Who doesn't? Look at my skin, bro. This could be an old – this photo that I took that I sent you is three days ago. Well, this restaurant's only been open for a month, so it's very – But this is a cool idea. It's a nice little riff on the little Spanish tapas. Spanish people like green onions, right? Who doesn't? Green onion, great flavor.
[1:00:37] Great, great flavor. And speaking of the hydration break earlier, [1:00:41] I was thinking about the evolution of... [1:00:45] powerade i saw them sponsoring i saw this powerade when you know when it first came out it was just like oh you're just like the little bitch stepbrother to gatorade just like get out of here kind of thing and they i'm kind of proud of powerade they they work their way up to the world cup hydration break sponsor i love i love that i love that you're acting like they're a small upstart owned by coca-cola they were eventually acquired by coca-cola for their [1:01:15] really i don't i don't i don't know for a fact but at much like surge the discontinued highly caffeinated soda from our friends at the coca-cola bottling company i i'm not a hundred percent positive but i feel like damn you're right okay powerade was developed entirely by coca-cola to compete you're fucking you got a sigh out bitch you got a sigh out bitch i guess i just [1:01:45] owns Powerade. Do they? Pepsi owns Gatorade? Yes. Pepsi companies owns Gatorade. I did not. I thought Gatorade was... Which I didn't know either, but I just Googled it and it said Powerade. Strong Independent. [1:01:56] Powerade is developed by Coca-Cola. They created the sports drink in 1988 to compete with PepsiCo's Gatorade. So PepsiCo, the second fiddle forever cola, owns the first fiddle sports drink. And then the first fiddle cola company owns the second fiddle sports drink. Actually, actually. Say that three times fast. Actually interesting. Actually interesting. But I'm not proud of Powerade because obviously it's much worse. Yeah, I take it back.
[1:02:26] them but i just remember them always being the little kind of red-headed stepchild of the sports drinks you laughed them off the colors are so unnatural and weird and the logo is wrong it was just like oh that's the cheap budget version of gatorade and the the poor little troubled workers over at the coca-cola corporation they stuck with it look at now look at never forget vitamin water jason a success story from the slums involving rapper 50 cent we couldn't write that that's that's [1:02:56] And also, lastly, I saw Maddie's Secret, our friend John Early's film, a couple days ago. Support cinema. Okay. And it was very funny. It did a good job skewering the Bon Appetit, Chef-y, Miso, Goju-Jang, muffin recipe, culture. Okay. Wow. You hate your own people. I'm glad to hear that. Yeah. I'm able to laugh at myself, Chris. Something to think about. Just kidding. You're really able to do that. Maybe too well. [1:03:26] There's an interesting discourse going on about... Because so much of it... Of the film is about eating disorders. That is the secret of Maddie's Secret. Spoiler alert, but... [1:03:36] It's walking the line between, you know, John Waters style camp eating disorder comedy thingy and real. [1:03:44] eating disorder thing where it's like i don't know when i should laugh and when i should reflect you know what i mean but either way yeah yeah [1:03:52] It's everyone is talking about it. And I think that that is interesting alone. And if you have a good sense of humor and you like food and it's just a wacky, funny movie.
[1:04:01] Check it out. I will. [1:04:04] I plan to. I plan to. Okay. And also, you can check out the Burning Man documentary on HBO. Oh, yeah. I did see that last night when I logged in using my VPN. They were smart to show the only attractive people in the first three minutes of the... The only burners that you would have sex with? That's good. No, because I was like... [1:04:24] You know, such a good idea. Like that's exactly what a documentary should be is like this thing, Burning Man, a thing we all make fun of, a thing that we're all fascinated by, a thing that we're probably never going to go and find out what it's like for ourselves. And to have an HBO film crew go there for five years and make a documentary about it. [1:04:43] you know inject that into my veins unfortunately it's less about you know topless baddies on lsd and stuff like that and guys doing unicycle tricks um and underneath a wooden dragon and more so about the like minutiae of the executive board of of burning man and like what the future is going to hold with regulations and uh government lobbying and stuff oh my god dude no one god [1:05:13] Who cares? Weird fat guys, butt naked. Yeah. Let me see Diplo on a bike that had 15 welders create it. You know, I don't want to see. I want to see some, you know, that's not what I want to see. I want to see some steampunk shit. That's right. Oh, my God. [1:05:30] alright how long gone thank you for listening howlonggone.com is the website we're back next week with more podcasts we appreciate you thank you Jason thank you bye
